Foil is a new form of water sports that allows the fantastic sensation of flying over water on a board. A kind of keel – hydrofoil – attached to the board allows it to be raised above the water and to reach great speeds.
It is a sport that has challenged the concept of the perfect sea for surfing, since it allows long surfing trips even with little swell.
Ria de Aveiro offers great conditions for those who want to learn Foil. To start in this sport, you begin by practicing the wake foil variant, which consists in standing up on the board while being towed by a boat. The constant speed that the board acquires with the help of the boat will allow the rider to conquer his balance on top of the board. The next step will then be to practice maneuvers to master the direction.
If it is a windy day, it is still good to go out on the water and foil. By adding a wing to the activity, it is possible to take advantage of the wind’s strength and glide over the water – kite foil and wing foil.
